Fit-out quality as marketing
Highline Laundromat - United States
Independent owner-operator, featured in Wascomat's brand film
Chosen by Wascomat as the face of its brand film - a bright, considered store where the quality of the fit-out matches the quality of the equipment.

Why a manufacturer picks one store
When a manufacturer with six decades of history chooses a single store to represent the brand on film, it is not choosing the biggest room. It is choosing the one where the finishes, the lighting, the signage and the housekeeping live up to the machines.
Highline is that store: a clean line of machines, generous light, clear graphics and an owner present in the room. The equipment is the same equipment anyone can buy - the difference is the fit-out discipline around it.
What the film actually shows
Straight machine banks with unbroken sightlines from the entrance to the rear wall. Folding benches sized for real loads. Bright, high-CRI lighting over machines and benches. Wayfinding a first-time customer can follow without asking anyone.
None of it is expensive relative to the equipment budget, and all of it is what a customer judges you on within ten seconds of walking in.
Translating it to an Australian shopfront
Glaze as much of the frontage as your tenancy allows, light the room at 500+ lux over the machines, and finish every surface so it can be hosed, wiped or mopped. Then keep the machine line straight and the aisle wide enough for two people with baskets.
This is the cheapest competitive advantage available in Australian vended laundry, because most existing stores in this market have not done it.
What this means for an Australian build
- Budget the fit-out as marketing spend, not fit-out cost.
- Protect sightlines from the door to the rear wall - it is a safety feature and a sales feature.
- Straight machine lines and generous folding benches photograph well and trade well.
