About Wascomat Australia
The brand that invented the laundromat. Now built for Australia.
Since 1960, Wascomat has engineered vended laundry equipment that outlasts the lease it sits under. Today that platform is specified, installed and serviced across Australia by Aqualogic Laundry Systems - the official local distributor with the largest in-house tech team in the country.

The pedigree
A Scandinavian engineering answer to a very ordinary problem.
Before 1960, doing the washing meant owning a machine or handing your laundry to somebody else. Wascomat's founding idea was simpler and far more commercial: put professional-grade machines in a shopfront, let the public use them for a coin, and engineer those machines to survive being used by everybody.
That second half is the part most people miss. A self-service store puts a machine through the workload of ten households, operated by people who have never read a manual and will never perform maintenance. It only works if the equipment is genuinely industrial - balanced, sealed, over-specified, and honest about what it needs from the building around it.
So Wascomat built to that standard from the start: heavy frames, stainless steel, soft-mount suspension to absorb unbalanced loads, and a control philosophy that assumes the operator wants to tune the store rather than accept whatever the factory shipped. Sixty years later the technology has changed completely and the standard hasn't moved.

Foundations
Four principles that haven't changed since 1960.
Built to outlive the lease
Heavy-duty frames, stainless steel panels, oversized bearings and soft-mount suspension. Wascomat machines are specified against cycle count, not against a retail price point - which is why so many are still earning revenue decades after installation.
Designed as a system
Washers and dryers are engineered to work together. High-G extraction on the washer side shortens dryer cycles on the other, so the store's biggest running cost falls without changing anything a customer sees.
Serviceable by design
Front USB access, common parts across sizes, and logical service points mean faster diagnosis, shorter downtime and a smaller spares holding - the practical difference between a good week and a lost weekend.
Operator economics first
Automatic Savings dosing, drum-mounted drain valves, programmable cycles and paid upgrades exist for one reason: to move margin per turn in the operator's favour.
The story, decade by decade
Six decades of vended laundry.
- 1950s
Swedish engineering foundations
Wascomat is built on Scandinavian industrial thinking: over-engineer the frame, simplify the service points, and design the machine for decades of duty rather than a warranty period. That philosophy still defines every model in the range.
- 1960
The first coin-operated laundromat
Wascomat installs the world's first coin-operated self-service laundry in Manhattan. It did not enter a category - it created one, and with it an entire retail business model that still supports tens of thousands of operators worldwide.
- 1970s
Global expansion
Vended Wascomat machines spread through Europe, the Americas and Asia. The brand becomes the reference point for commercial laundry reliability, and the phrase 'still running after twenty years' becomes an ordinary customer story rather than a marketing claim.
- 1990s
The high-G extraction era
Engineering focus shifts to extraction. Wascomat pushes G-Force higher because the washer starts the drying process: the more water leaves in the drain instead of the linen, the less gas and power the dryer burns. Operator economics move to the centre of product design.
- 2000s
Intelligent vended control
Programmable control platforms, weight-based Automatic Savings water dosing, and multi-language customer interfaces arrive across the range - turning a machine into a merchandising surface that can be priced and re-priced by the operator.
- 2010s
The cashless, connected store
Card and mobile payment, app-based machine availability, and remote store management give operators live revenue, utilisation and diagnostics data. Running several sites from a phone becomes normal.
- 2020s
Efficiency as the product
Water, energy and labour costs - not purchase price - decide whether a laundromat is profitable. The current generation of washers and dryers is engineered around cost per kilogram washed and dried.
- Today
Wascomat Australia, with Aqualogic
The proven global vended platform is matched to Australian conditions, standards and trading patterns, and supported on the ground by Aqualogic Laundry Systems.
Why Aqualogic
Leaders in laundry since 1968.
Aqualogic Laundry Systems is an Australian family-owned business that has supplied and serviced commercial-grade laundry equipment for Australian businesses since 1968. High-quality machines are just the beginning - a successful laundry needs the right layout, the right training, and the right support the moment you need it. That is the capability Wascomat now has on the ground here: the largest in-house tech team in the industry, an extensive spare-parts inventory, and genuine people-first service right across the country.

Australian conditions, Australian advice
Water hardness, single-phase power in older strips, tight strata fit-outs, timber floors, council drainage: an Australian laundromat is not a US one. Aqualogic specifies to the site in front of it, not to a catalogue.
Local parts and technicians
A vended store stops earning the moment a machine stops turning. Aqualogic holds local spares and runs local service resources so a fault becomes a same-week fix, not an overseas freight problem.
Fit-out and layout experience
Machine mix, dryer-to-washer ratio, queue flow, plumbing and drainage sizing - decisions made once at fit-out that determine revenue per square metre for the next decade.
Commercial support end to end
From feasibility numbers and equipment finance through to commissioning, program setup, pricing strategy and ongoing service.
National service coverage
The largest laundry service team in Australia.
Equipment is the easy part. What keeps a laundry running is a service network with the size, systems and parts depth to be there whether you run one site or sixty across multiple states. Aqualogic backs every Wascomat machine with that network - service and support across Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Samoa and the Cook Islands.

Service areas, not postcodes
Every site is allocated to a mapped service area with a named technician and a planned route, so attendance is scheduled rather than scrambled - metro, regional and multi-state.
One contract for all sites
A single national agreement covering every location and every brand - Girbau, IPSO, Speed Queen, ADC and now Wascomat - with one invoice and no fragmented costs.
In-house technicians and installers
Our own licensed field team, install crew and operations management. No subcontractor lottery, no inconsistent standards between states.
$2.5M+ of parts on the shelf
Extensive spare-parts inventory and vans stocked for common faults, so the first visit is far more likely to be the only visit.
24/7 hotline and priority escalation
Log a call any hour. Technicians escalate to team leaders, state service managers and subject-matter experts so hard faults don't stall.
FieldLogix live dashboard
Real-time fleet movement and technician tracking, with calls logged, planned, mapped, scheduled and closed out in one system.
What it means for an owner
Reliability you can underwrite a 10-year business plan on.
Six decades of engineering around four outcomes owners can actually measure: machine life, utility cost, throughput, and control.
Built to Outlast
Heavy frames, sealed bearings, inverter drives, stainless drums. Many original Wascomat units installed in the 1980s are still earning revenue today.
Lower Utility Bills
Higher G-force extraction removes more water per cycle, which means shorter dryer runs, less gas, less power - every single load, for the life of the machine.
Higher Profit per m²
Faster turnaround means more loads per peak hour. Stacked, soft-mount and compact options unlock floor area other machines simply can't use.
Smarter Control
LaundryPulse remote monitoring, Compass Pro programmable controls and full coin / card / mobile-pay readiness - out of the box.

Where that leaves you
Pedigree only matters if it shows up in your P&L.
Sixty years of engineering translates into three practical things for an Australian operator: machines that keep turning through peak trade, running costs per kilogram that stay low as utility prices rise, and a resale-grade asset at the end of a lease rather than a write-off.
With Aqualogic behind the brand locally, that pedigree comes with Australian numbers, Australian installation standards and an Australian phone number when something needs attention.
FAQs
Answers for laundromat owners and investors.
How long do commercial Wascomat washers actually last?+
Wascomat vended washers are routinely in service 20–30+ years. With routine maintenance and genuine parts, many original units installed decades ago are still earning revenue today.
Coin, card or app payment - what should I install in Australia?+
Every Wascomat AUS vended machine is ready for all three. Most new Australian stores fit a hybrid: coin acceptance for walk-ins, plus card or mobile-pay for younger and repeat customers.
How much does it cost to open a laundromat in Australia?+
Total fit-out varies widely by site, but typical AU vended laundromats sit in the low- to mid-six-figures including equipment, install, fit-out and signage. Our team will model your specific site and finance options.
Why does extraction G-force matter so much?+
Higher G-force extraction removes more residual moisture from each load. Less water in the laundry means shorter dryer cycles, less gas burned, faster customer turnaround and more revenue per peak hour.
Can I install Wascomat washers on a first floor or timber floor?+
Yes - our WUD soft-mount range absorbs its own vibration and is purpose-built for upper-level and timber-frame installations where solid-mount machines can't be used.
