Clarus Vibe + Laundroworks rollout
Best Wash Laundromats - Memphis, Tennessee

A brand-new Wascomat store opened over a single weekend, built around Clarus Vibe controls and a Laundroworks payment platform - and immediately set up as a template for the next openings in the group.

A weekend opening, years in the making
"Best Wash Laundromats is opening a new Wascomat store in Memphis this weekend. Clarus Vibe with Laundroworks looks phenomenal. More openings to come!" - that was how Tom O'Hara, partner at Best Wash Laundromats, announced the store.
It reads like a small post. It is actually the tell-tale sign of a mature operator: the room was finished, the machines were commissioned, the payment system was live and the doors opened on schedule - because the build was a repeat of a format the group already trusts.
The room does the selling
One unbroken line of mirror-finish Wascomat washers runs the length of the glazed frontage, so the machines themselves are the shopfront signage. Behind them, a full wall of stacked Wascomat dryers sits recessed into a blue-framed opening.
The finishes are deliberately hard-wearing and light: large-format marble-look porcelain tile, white walls with a single blue band, and a black exposed-services ceiling that hides ductwork while keeping the room feeling tall. Floor wastes are set into the tile in front of the washer line - a small detail that separates a store designed for washing from a shop that had washers installed in it.
Clarus Vibe: pricing as a live lever
Every washer carries a Clarus Vibe touch screen greeting the customer by store brand and walking them into a cycle. The operator gets cycle-level pricing, promotions, time-of-day rates and machine-level reporting without touching a single machine on site.
That matters most for a group. Programming decisions get made once and pushed across stores, so a customer who moves between two Best Wash locations sees the same screen, the same cycle names and the same prices.
Laundroworks: cashless, unattended, accountable
Kiosk signage inside the store handles purchase, reload and registration, and the Laundroworks readers on each machine take card and app payment. Coin handling, cash-collection runs and the security exposure that comes with them are removed from the operating model.
The by-product is data: revenue per machine, per hour and per day, visible without a site visit. That is what lets a small partnership run several stores unattended.
Built for turns, not just capacity
The layout follows the classic high-turn pattern - washers along the window line, stacked dryers on the opposite wall, and a wide central floor filled with stainless folding benches at working height. Timber-look partition panelling divides the folding zone from the wash floor without blocking sightlines.
Stacked dryers double drying capacity per metre of wall so the drying side never becomes the bottleneck at peak, and the bench run means customers fold in-store instead of queuing to leave.
Why it is a template, not a one-off
"More openings to come" is the important part of the announcement. The equipment specification, the control platform, the payment system, the tile, the lighting and the bench layout are all now decided.
Site selection and tenancy shape are the only real variables left for the next store - which is exactly the position every multi-store operator is trying to reach.

What this means for an Australian build
- Specify one control platform across every store so pricing and programming are decided once, not per site.
- Go cashless from day one - unattended trading and machine-level reporting depend on it.
- Stack the dryers: double the drying capacity per metre of wall keeps the peak-hour bottleneck off the drying side.
- Treat the first store as a template - lock the tile, lighting, bench and machine specification so the next opening is a repeat build.
